Calculation of differential pulmonary blood flow in patients with congenital heart disease using pulmonary artery flow versus pulmonary vein flow

چکیده
Background Phase contrast magnetic resonance (PCMR) has been shown to provide accurate measurement of differential branch pulmonary artery (BPA) flow in patients with congenital heart disease when compared to the gold standard, lung perfusion scintigraphy (LPS). Although most studies have compared the ratio of net BPA flow volume (NFV) to LPS, one study found that forward flow volume (FFV) correlated more accurately. PCMR quantification of pulmonary venous (PV) flow has also been shown to be feasible and highly reproducible. We sought to calculate differential pulmonary blood flow using PV flow and compare the results with both NFV and FFV calculations.

Indications, Results and Mortality of Pulmonary Artery Banding Procedure: a Brief Review and Five- year Experiences
Background Pulmonary artery banding (PAB) is a technique of palliative surgical therapy used by congenital heart surgeons as a staged approach to operative correction of congenital heart defects. Materials and Methods We report 5- year experiences from January 2011 to January 2016 of Imam Reza Hospital center (a tertiary referral hospital in Mashhad city, North East of Iran) that consist of 50 ...
متن کاملAlterations in regional pulmonary blood flow in patients with congenital heart disease studied by radioisotope scanning.
External scintillation scanning of intravenously administered '31I-labeled macroaggregates of human serum albumin (1311-MAA) was employed to evaluate the distribution of pulmonary arterial blood flow in 61 normal subjects and in 100 patients with various congenital cardiovascular malformations. Intra-aortic administration of 131I-MAA demonstrated that blood flow through subelavian-pulmonary art...
متن کاملSuperior vena cava to right pulmonary artery anastomosis. Results in 46 infants and children.
Superior vena cava to right pulmonary artery anastomoses have been constructed in 46 infants and children with cyanotic congenital heart disease associated with low pulmonary blood flow and low pulmonary vascular resistance. All children had lesions not currently amenable to corrective operative procedures. Good or excellent results, albeit with persistent mild to moderate cyanosis, followed op...
متن کاملEchocardiographic assessment of the pulmonary venous flow. An indicator of increased pulmonary flow in congenital cardiac malformations.
OBJECTIVE To identify the left inferior pulmonary vein as an indirect marker of increased pulmonary flow in congenital heart diseases. METHODS We carried out a prospective consecutive study on 40 patients divided into 2 groups as follows: G1--20 patients diagnosed with congenital heart disease and increased pulmonary flow; G2 (control group)--20 patients who were either healthy or had congeni...
متن کاملVein of Galen Aneurysmal Malformation and High-output Cardiac Failure in a Newborn
Background: Vein of Galen aneurysm (VGA) is the most common form of symptomatic cerebrovascular malformation in neonates. It develops in a fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy due to unknown reasons, but it is likely to have a genetic etiology. The prognosis of VGA is usually poor, particularly in newborns with heart failure due to high-flow intracerebral shunt. Surgery and endovascular em...
